Proverbs 31:30 Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised!
There’s nothing worse than a woman who is beautiful and charming on the outside, but empty on the inside. Unfortunately, most women give more attention to their outer appearance and mannerisms than to their hearts. In the African American community, we would say, “They’re just frontin’.” However, the Proverbs 31 Woman is a woman of inner beauty. She does take care of her outer appearance, but she is not a painted shell or a dressed-up mess. She is filled with the power of God. It is imperative that we get our hearts right. We must get them free of everything that is unlike God.
The Proverbs 31 Woman does this by reverently and worshipfully fearing the Lord. It is not a fear that God will strike her down at any moment, but an overwhelming respect for the worth of God. To worship is to show the worth of God. This gives her a beauty that never fades and all who see her will sing her praises! So, keep God first and be that praiseworthy woman.
Proverbs 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates [of the city]!
After all of this work: trusting God, asking for his wisdom, and walking in his wisdom, you will be rewarded. The New Living Translation of this verse says, “Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.” The Contemporary English Version says, “Show her respect-praise her in public for what she has done.” The woman of our text is successful and bears fruit because she works at being virtuous. You, too, will be publicly honored as you walk in virtue and continue to work at being virtuous. Take a bow and give God the praise. You deserve it.
[Remember, if everything hasn’t manifested regarding your being a Proverbs 31 Woman, give it some time. The Lord is faithful!]
