Jones will start at 1 p.m. at Robert Barham Spouse and children Funeral Household in Meridian, Miss out on., Saturday, the 10th of July 2021, with the Revs. Dr. Raymon Leake, Dr. Nathan Van Horn, and David Bishop officiating. Owen Dewitte Jones, beloved spouse, father, grandfather, and terrific-grandfather, joined the heavenly choir on Wednesday, the 7th of July, 2021.
Born on the 31st of July, 1926, in Pickens County, Ala., Owen was just one of 12 small children and survived a complicated childhood, dropping his mother at age six.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Ann Abernethy Jones his father and mom, Edward Columbus and Edna Sevilla Rickman Jones his 11 brothers and sisters and a 50 %-sister.
Owen is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Pleasure Jones Peery and husband, William Franklin (Sonny) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Janet Susan Jones Pilko and spouse George, of Houston, Texas his grandchildren: Jana Elisabeth Peery Flint and spouse, Jeremy of Vestavia Ala. Mary Lauren Fisher Krajcir and husband, Alan of Arvada, Colo. and his fantastic-grandchildren: William Owen Flint and Elisabeth Grace Flint of Vestavia, Ala. Owen is also survived by his wife, Janice (Deweese) Jones her son Doug and spouse Wager of Meridian, Miss. her grandchildren and wonderful-grandchildren and his 50 %-brother Roy and several nieces and nephews who liked their “Unca Owen” dearly.
Growing up in a share-cropping relatives, Owen enlisted in the US Navy and served his country throughout Entire world War II in the Pacific theatre. Subsequent the war, Owen started his lifelong job in the utility sector, 1st with TVA and then in excess of 30 decades with Mississippi Ability Enterprise. Owen achieved Joyce in the film theater in her hometown of Houston, Skip. They commenced their married lifetime in Oklahoma but soon moved back again to Mississippi, settling in Meridian to raise their family members.
He served as Deacon at Point out Boulevard Baptist Church and, later, at Very first Baptist Church. Owen was lively in Relay for Existence for several years as a survivor and volunteer. He invested his last many years in Tuscaloosa, in close proximity to his loved ones and his birthplace.
Owen beloved his God, his household, his state, hunting and fishing, and Alabama soccer.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Peery, George Pilko, Jeremy Flint, Will Flint, James Jones, and Robert Jones. The honorary pallbearer will be Alan Krajcir.
